Older Updates 9/23/05 Phew! Forgive the late update; my life's been pretty crazy this summer/fall. I was recently assigned a new project with Tokyopop--I'll be doing the English adaptations for the second half of a long-running manga series--but I'm not sure I'm allowed to say what the series is yet, so I'll have to hold off on that announcement a bit. It's a very cool series, and one I'm honored to now be a part of. Anyway, the biggest change in my life right now is setting, as I've been moving all over the place. After spending this past year in Toronto, I moved back to Connecticut at the end of August, and in a few weeks I'll be moving to Syria for 6 months. I'll still have decent Internet access while I'm there and everything, but I'll be working from my cool-but-limited new laptop rather than my fancy eMac. This means I won't be able to update this page for a while. I've changed my livejournal to now focus only on my professional work and geek stuff, so any news I would be posting on this website will simply go on my livejournal while I'm in Syria. I'm coming home to the States briefly in January, and while I'm home I'll give the site a quick update (probably with information on that new manga series and such), but then that'll be it until next summer. Again, if you're actually interested enough to care what projects I'm working on for the next handful of months, go to the livejournal. Any personal entries (for friends) I used to post on my livejournal have instead been moved to my blog. I also updated the Works page a bit. Thanks! In advance, happy holidays. 7/1/05 Ah, summer in Canada...where the heat is so bad I have to soak myself in cold water just to get to sleep at night. Grr! Frozen White North my butt. Got a new job--the English adaptations for Tokyopop's Scrapped Princess prose novels. See the Works page for more details. The Toronto Comic Arts Festival was awesome; I got to hang out with Amy Ganter, make friends with (instead of just admire from afar) Becky Cloonan, and meet Svetlana Chmakova, all super cool people. And...my brain just stopped, since it's 6 am and I haven't gone to bed yet. I think that's everything of importance, anyway. See you in a month! 5/12/05 Hi! Contrary to popular belief, I live. I'm really sorry I dropped off the net these past few months...laziness, followed by an excess of work, followed by illness, followed by traveling, and finally complications with my web hosting all collaborated to keep me away. But now I'm happy to be running off FuitadNET, which is very cool, and the problems should be gone. Sorry for all the bad. I've gotten several new projects from Tokyopop since I last wrote here: English adaptations for Saiyuki Reload and Kamichama Karin, and editing work for the Slayers novels (woo!). More info can be found on the now-updated Works page. I also updated the About Me page, because it's that time of the year. I'll be speaking at the Toronto Comic Arts Festival in Toronto at the end of this month; I hope to see some of you there, it's sure to be sweet. In far more boring news, I now have a crummy livejournal. Um...that's it, I think? I did a presentation at the Farmington (CT) public library a few weeks ago to an all-girl audience, and they were very awesome. Love to them! Library presentations are still my favorite type of public speaking; libraries are some of the best places in the world. I'll update this page again July 1st instead of June 1st, simply because I don't think I'll have anything to report in two weeks. Have a nice spring! |
