There are some people who, more obvious than their other talents, have the uncanny ability to paint pictures with their words. It takes a creative mind and substantial patience to write a piece filled with clear decriptions and vibrant imagery, and to walk that razor-thin line between weighing down the work and expanding it. In my opinion, description is the hardest part of writing for that very reason--even if one sits down and patiently types out descriptions of the scene in her head, she still has to have the right timing, rhythm, vocabulary, metaphors, and above all sense of this is just enough when forming her images to keep the piece moving yet compelling. I rarely see this done well, in or outside of publishing, but this Amateur Author amazes me with her poetic and striking ability to describe. If you have trouble writing imagery, listen up and learn, because God knows I am.

Sailorcelestial's writing is top-notch, but more than anything I want to bring attention to her description talents. Her metaphors are striking. Her vocabulary is broad and creative. She's pinned down the many skills needed to write vibrant pose, and she pulls it off with a poetic style all her own. The story on display, Desolate, is a short, beautiful character piece that not only captures the dream-like yet powerful beauty of the end of the Sailor Moon manga, but accurately displays Sailorcelestial's seasoned and elegant writing style. And it's fabulous. Enjoy.

Please note, the following story contains spoilers for the end of the Sailor Moon manga, and the Sailor Moon manga itself is of a more adult nature than the anime on North American television and is not appropriate for a young and/or impressionable audience. Other fanfics can be found on her webpage, though please, as always, have discretion when reading. Yume is the Japanese word for dream.

Some comments from Sailorcelestial herself:

Once apon a time... ahem... I'm the Guardian of the Celestial Prison, which means I guard all the evil people Sailormoon and her Senshi have dusted, and I don't get out often so all there is for me to do is write.

::listens to the crickets chirp::

Okay, fine. I'm a 21 year old college student with no money and no other way to amuse myself when I'm too lazy to do schoolwork. ::sweatdrops:: I've really been writing as long as I can remember, even if I didn't actually WRITE all of what I thought of. As a kid I mostly made up songs, which wasn't really writing I guess but hey, at least I was using my imagination! As I grew up it became more and more painfully obvious to my mother that I didnt inhabit the same world as she... mine was a world removed from reality. ::grins:: Still is. Hehehe. As I grew from a little Sailorcelestial into a slightly bigger Sailorcelestial, I actually began writing stories, mostly about unicorns and winged horses. I loved horses. I still like them, but I could never get one, so I shifted my attention to cats. I have a cat! Her name is Rat and she could win the world record for "Cat who gets stuck going out the doggie door the most." In other words, she's fat.

Oh, anyways (focus, focus!) so I wrote my little heart out. Once I actually wrote a little book and illustrated it myself. Yes, the story was about Goldilocks, the evil Princess of Gold Kingdom and her lovely, nice and kind sister, Princess Silverlocks of Silver Kingdom. Okay, so my imagination left a bit to be desired. Then I grew into an even BIGGER Sailorcelestial who went rampaging through the streets of New York and... oh, no wait, that was the Staypuft Marshmellow Man. No, what I did was I went to high school and wrote some more! Yay! I actually won our city's annual Holocaust Essay Contest... well, second place. With high school came my introduction to Sailormoon, and thus the world of anime! Then the evil ones at DiC decided that not only would they stop dubbing Sailormoon, but they would stop in the middle of a season in order to cause the most pain possible to the fans! AAH!!! THE HORROR!!!! So, like a good little Sailorcelestial, I decided that I would write my own ending to that season and answer all of the questions I had for myself. Like... how DID Chibusa end up with pink hair?

Thus was born Reflections of Reality, my first fanfic and my ending to SailormoonR. Then I wrote a completely evil and brilliant one-shot titled No Rest For the Weary. Since then I have written a few one-shots, and a couple of large, multi-chapter fics. I've also become obsessed with more anime than just Sailormoon! I loved Rurouni Kenshin and Gundam Wing now as well! YAY! My fanfic Broken Wing is a Sailormoon/Gundam Wing crossover, and was oddly very popular. Hm. Go figure. Then I wrote a Gundam Wing fic titled Wayward which was oddly NOT very popular. It caused nightmares. ::grins:: I'm currently working on the sequel to BW, Mended Wing and another Gundam Wing fic titled Abode of Demons. Erg, that is, when I'm NOT working or at school or doing something school related. And I have a random smattering of one-shots and songfics. Hardly worth mentioning, really.

Okies, so can I do thankies now? Alright! Of course I have to thank Lianne-sama for thinking of me, and for being an inspiration to SO many new fanfiction authors. Thankies go out to Marika Webster, the Queen of the OCs and of the Chibi Bufeis. To Fuuzaki-chan, my online huggable imouto. Rashaka-chan of the Mile Long Reviews. And of course Trenchcoat Man, who knows who he is and why he's here. ::grins goofily:: So I guess that's it, I'm done, I'm shutting up now! Take it away, Lianne-sama!

I'd just like to add a note here and say Sailorcelestial is a very sweet, talented, energetic young woman and is certainly worth not only a read, but an e-mail. Her e-mails are very entertaining when she writes you back. ^_^ Please send her feedback to reward her for providing us with such fine writing.
